KELLY MCDONOUGH
Kelly has been writing since she could pick up a pencil. She has written everything from radio, newspaper, sales and advertising copy to writing for an international catalog. Kelly writes contemporary romantic comedy, inspirational and paranormal romance novels -- all of which are old-fashioned with a modern day twist. Kelly has been with Harlequin Romance & Silhouette Books, New York City for almost 16 years working as a freelance reader and copywriter. She intends to try her hand at writing a book that fits their "guideline requirements." And she should know them! Quite possibly a military romantic suspense -- but that requires lots of research, and she goes with what she knows. In the meantime, she's letting her muses have their way and finds publishers who fit her work--not the other way around. She also intends to broaden her horizons in other genres -- mainly mainstream psychological thrillers. She is also published in children's fiction, non-fiction and poetry and intends to publish a couple of children's books she's been holding on to and waiting for the right time to search out a publisher.
After spending years as a corporate marketing/promotions assistant for nine radio stations and eleven newspapers across the country and working nearly thirteen years as an on-air announcer for classic rock radio stations, she decided to try her hand at what she loves writing and reading best: romance. All because she discovered an article in People magazine about something she never knew existed -- The Romance Writers of America. She found that one while working on her radio show -- and was paid while reading about the national organization that helps budding romance authors do their thing!
Kelly lives in a close-knit community in Pennsylvania with her husband, Jack, her two children, Jackie and Kayleigh and her cat, Pickles and Beagle, Max. Her dream is to bring more fairy-tale endings to the world -- and possibly a psychological thriller that'll knock socks off and scare the hell out of people because her research thus far scares the hell out of her!
